Today I wanna share a special dress with you. The pattern is made by Straight Grain. You can purchase your copies here. You should definitely check out her blog, and of curse her shop. Love the stuff she`s doing. So I had to try my hand on one of her patterns. All of them are cute but I wanted to sew a Hanami. The Hanami top and dress is a versatile sewing pattern. You can choose between different collar, sleeve and back options. And that`s what I did. I made a color blocking version, because I wanted a Peter Pan collar and a crossed back. This to options you can`t mix. So I decided to go for the crossed back, and instead of the collar, I just inserted one in the color blocking as you can see in the picture
In place of sleeves, I attached self-made piping, same for the waistline. And that’s how id looks in the back. Sweet, ins`t it? For an easy closure, I attached some vintage snaps I found in a secondhand shop. They look like a pearl button. In my eyes it`s a nice match with this awesome micheal miller fabric.
I really enjoyed sewing this dress. The pattern comes with clear instructions and a lot of useful sewing tips for a nice and clean finish.
