Lux

It`s been a while. Not sure, if I missed anything. I sewed as always, just sharing didn`t feel that important. I`ll see if I feel like visiting this little space more often again.

But today I`m here and would love to show you my version of the Luxdress. It`s not an option to sew just for one of my girls anymore. I had to start sewing similar dresses for both.

“Mum, there are no buttons on my dress. Yes, but you got a bow on the neckline. Oh yes, her dress hasn`t a bow, right? Then it`s fine.”

My baby girl will have the same dresses in all the sizes.

The Lux is a basic dress with a shirring or elastic detail at the waist. The option for a sporty jumpsuit is also included. It`s easy to make it yours, by adding details. It comes with capsleeves and a long sleeve is available. Stripes look like summer to me, that`s why my dresses had to be sleevless. For adding some interest I made a button-placket and a bow at the neckline. Pockets make them happy.

The instructions are clear and I even discovered something new to me. Gathering elastic makes shirring so easy. I think there isn`t a better way to shirr knit fabric. Easy to sew on, it gives a nice finish and you`ll get exactly the measurement of your desire.

Sizing is accurate, I took the size based on their chest measurements and adjusted the length. It`s a nice, comfortable fit. They`ll get lots of wear out of those dresses. They`re going to fit next summer as well.

ImageAs I already told you, you`ll see a lot of rompers around here. Are you already tired of it? I`m not. It`s kind of an obsession. This one is made from a lillestoff knit. And some local bought polka dot fabric. I love sewing with knit`s since i`ve got a serger, it`s so easy to get a nice and clean result. And for a kiddo it`s just so comfortable.

ImageThe pattern is, as usual for my rompers, self drafted. I`ve a lot of fun playing around with different designs. This time a made a crossed strap in the back and just to add some cuteness, I drafted a tiny knot. I inserted the elastic with my (new) coverlock machine. It took my years to work it out, just couldn`t find the right setting. In the end i`m quite content with the result. It`s not perfect but it look`s nice. I hope i`ll get the hang of this machine someday. May you`ve any tips for me?

ImageToday was one of the first summer days here (we don`t get too many of them every year, here in switzerland). So it was the perfect thing to wear. Love to dress her in my handmade clothes. They`re made with so much love, just for her.

ImageThe cap she`s wearing is 25 years old. Even if it`s from Walt Disney, I love it.
