Florence Christmas Blog Tour

Christmas is still a bit far away, so I made a version suitable for the whole cold season. And as you may know, winter`s are long in Switzerland.

As Florence is designed as a blouse, I had to make a few changes to the pattern. I sewed a size 2Y for my one year old girl, so there is enough ease to wear a jumper under it. I exdended the seam to coat lenght in an A-line. I added a box pleat in the back, i closed it to the waistline. This way the coat is nicely fitted and there is enough room around the hips allowing some movement. The princess seams were perfect to hide inseam pockets. Because I upsized, I had to shorten the arms about 1.5 cm. Take a nice wool fabric and you have a coat. That`s it.

No, it wasn`t that easy and it wasn`t that fast. But I had so much fun with this pattern! It`s a joy to sew it up. I`m blown away by the quality of Anna`s Pattern. I would highly recommend them to everyone! Anna is giving 20% off all her patterns during this week.

The pattern is festive and time less, but even super cute and handy for everyday use. My girl will definitely wear it at Christmas. If you would like to give it a go and sew a Florence Blouse for Christmas, be sure to share your creation on the Madeit Patterns Facebook page by the end of January and you`ll be in with a chance to win a pattern of your choice.

The inside is fully lined with a warm wool batting and a nice cotton lining. It`s blue and white striped. Sadly, I forgot to take a picture of it.

This tour is a competition. If you like my version and if you would like to see what all the others made, you can head over to Needle and Ted where you can comment on the different Florence’s and help to select a winner.

Ps: The awesome earflap cap is also self made. I`m going to share my free pattern in the next few days. So stay tuned!

  1. Cute! Beautiful fabric, hat and boots. Turning it into a coat is such a clever idea – and not one I’d thought of.

  2. This is such a great idea to make it into a coat, I love it, Fab touch to put the pockets into the seam and the pleat at the back, it looks fantastic!!

  3. I am so impressed with your coat. Such a good idea. The whole outfit looks gorgeous.

Looking forward to getting my hands on your hat pattern. My daughter could do with one of those.

  4. A coat–genius! It looks so well made. Please do get a photo of the lining for us! And of course I am anxious for that hat pattern. I’m really into making accessories lately.
