I proudly present you my turn on the Dropdress. The new pattern by Madeit. It`s the dress you sew for yourself, when you don`t know what to wear tonight. Yes right. Even an hour before you should be ready to go out. Drop is sewn as fast as a t-shirt. It wears like a t-shirt. It may feel like a t-shirt, but gives you stylish and dressy look. With it`s long sleeves and the slash neck it`s the perfect dress for the cooler winter days. Wear it with a big scarf and you`re ready.

drop__006

The special drape detail just occurs to the asymmetrical cut. Very clever. I was excited about that dress on the first glimpse. Luckily, Olu let me test. By now, I got 4 versions. Can`t stop. It`s a dress you love to wear as a mum. Effortless and comfy to wear. but don`t be fooled by that. I feel so well dressed in my Drops.I even got some compliments, while wearing them. What do you want more?

drop__001

This striped version is made in a very nice french terry. It is thin and drapes very well. I found it locally. It`s a gorgeous fabric. I just have to get used to the white. Not a color that suits me very well, though. It makes me somehow palish. This was the very first version of the pattern. For the pretest. Since this version, the pattern changed a bit.

drop__008

My grey version is made from a normal t-shirt fabric style knit. It drapes way less beautifully but works as well. It`s not just plain grey, you can`t see it very well on the pictures, but it has some nice blue stripes running horizontally and vertically.

drop__007

The fabric choice can make all the difference with this top! Try a true knit, something with 4 way stretch or even a french terry. You`re drapes are going to be much more special!

Madeit Fashion week is also a funny little contest about a great backdrop, between all the talented lady’s contributing. My theme is monochrome. From head to toe (my nails are grey as well accidentally). I just had to wear my Turban hat to make the look complet. This one is selfdrafted and i still have to tweak the pattern a bit. I allready love it a lot. It feel so sophisitcated to wear a turban.

Back to the Backdrop. I just attached Christmas wrapping paper on my wall and jumped in front of it. Looks funny doesn`t it?

You can win as well!!!

Get your Groove on

GrooveDress__001

When the Groove dress was introduced for the first time, it went immediately on top of my to sew list. Those dresses are in heavy rotation, since I cut the threads to my machine. I desperately wanted to have a foto shooting together with my mini me. It kind of didn`t happen, that we wore the same dress without one being to dirty to take pictures. Today on our daily walk it was time to get our groove on.

GrooveDress__002

I`m sure you already read all good about this pattern. I wan`t say anything else. It`s a masterpiece. It`s a perfect stapeldress you can easily wear on a dogwalk with some flats or sandals as I do. Or style it up and wear it to a dinner or even a party. Up to you.

You can make one for yourself first, then one for your girls. The teeny version comes for free! My girl is oh so proud to wear the same dress as her mummy. It`s comfortable as a t-shirt worn without pants.

The kids version is a size 3 without any alterations. For my dress, I made it shorter at the hem. I lowered the neckline at the front (to make it nursing friendly) and at the back. I knew, it would affect the fit around the shoulders a bit. I didn`t care. For a next version i wouldn`t lower front and back. The fit would be better. Anyway you have a few nice necklines to choose from, you probably wan`t draw your own.

GrooveDress__006

Fabrics are from a local shop. The fabric I used for mine, is beautiful but not really suitable for that dress, it has`nt enough drape. Doesn`t matter i love it anyway and will do better next time. Madeit you really do a great job!

So when do you get your Groove on?

Madeit Fashion Week – Fold2

Fashion Week poster4

It`s Madeit Fashion Week! I couldn`t be more excited about Anna and Olu`s new Patterncollection! It`s just stunning! Those two ladies made kids fashion in a very pure and beautiful way. Clever patterns with clear lines. There is no pink there is no candy, it`s made for real kids. They offer a few pattern for boys, but they`re actually suitable for girls as well.

I picked two patterns out of the Fold2 collection and sewed tree garments. It was a lot of fun and i`m sure, there will be more Madeit sewing in the next weeks. The instructions are clear and you can see that the graphic is made by a pro! It`s easy and straight forward to work with. And Olu`s humor is shinning through from time to time, what made me smile while sewing.

The skirt is self-drafted, it`s a simple rectangle gathered with an elastic. Fabric found at a market in Italy it`s golden linen. Pretty fancy!

Fabric of the top, bodice-side bought at Anna Ka Bazaar in Paris. Bodice-front is from Cotton and Steel bought at Petite Couture.

I can remember sitting in the metro in Paris, while the Paris sew social weekend, back in April. When Olu showed a preview of the Petal Fold Playsuit. I was blown away and since this day, I was waiting for this pattern! As playsuits with back opening isn`t something very practical for a two-year old diaper carrier, I was delighted to find out that there is a supplement with the separates. And because I loved the look of the playsuit I made her a dress inspired by it.

madeit_fashionweek__013

Fabrics are from Atelier Brunette and Michael Miller bought at Petite Couture. (I totally forgot where the skirt fabric is from)

The balloon fold dress, which can be worn 3 ways, was my second choice. I just had to try it. It seemed to be genius! And I can tell you it really is. Such a great fit and such a fun and comfy dress. My little bean wore it the whole day after I tried it on. And that`s something really special at the moment! She take it up and down just as she feels like.

madeit_fashionweek__007

Fabric is from a local store. It`s a very lightweight t-shirt knit.

It was a little extra challenge to incorporate some Origami into our blog posts. So what do you think about my big dinosaur? By the way all the honor goes to my `husband` who took his time, yesterday evening folding it, while I was working. I love you!

What are you going to do with a basic oversized boxy top pattern? You just add detail and make it your very own. That`s the little funny challenge Olu of Needle and Ted set us. All those bloggers are going to interpret the Ziggy Top in their own creative way. I can`t wait to see what everyone did!

My girl doesn`t have that many trousers and because of that, nearly never wears t-shirts. I found a solution.

Ziggy_Dress_006

Let my introduce you to….. the Ziggy Dress.

Ziggy_Dress_004

I extended the hem to dress length and attached a draw-cord to give it a bit of shape around the waist. She felt in love with it from the first moment. It must be really cozy.

Ziggy_Dress_001

This jersey, i bought locally, is nice and soft but doesn`t have a lot of stretch. I attached a button placket in the shoulder seam, in order that her head is going to fit trough the neckhole. Painless slip on and off really makes all the difference, if she`ll like or hate a piece of clothing.

Ziggy_Dress_002

I`ll need a dress like this for myself! Such a lazy style, seems perfect for Sundays. You`ll look well-dressed while wearing kind of jogging suit.

Ziggy_Dress_005

That`s it, a new comfy dress for my little bean and I can`t wait for the new Madeit Collection coming soon.

Ziggy_Dress_008

Psst… Madeit Patterns will be offering 20% off Ziggy from  23rd March – 29th March.

20% off Ziggy

I`m off to check out the other Ziggy`s sewn by those talented bloggers.

Florence Christmas Blog Tour

DSC_0261
Christmas is still a bit far away, so I made a version suitable for the whole cold season. And as you may know, winter`s are long in Switzerland.
DSC_0264
As Florence is designed as a blouse, I had to make a few changes to the pattern. I sewed a size 2Y for my one year old girl, so there is enough ease to wear a jumper under it. I exdended the seam to coat lenght in an A-line. I added a box pleat in the back, i closed it to the waistline. This way the coat is nicely fitted and there is enough room around the hips allowing some movement. The princess seams were perfect to hide inseam pockets. Because I upsized, I had to shorten the arms about 1.5 cm. Take a nice wool fabric and you have a coat. That`s it.

No, it wasn`t that easy and it wasn`t that fast. But I had so much fun with this pattern! It`s a joy to sew it up. I`m blown away by the quality of Anna`s Pattern. I would highly recommend them to everyone! Anna is giving 20% off all her patterns during this week.

The pattern is festive and time less, but even super cute and handy for everyday use. My girl will definitely wear it at Christmas. If you would like to give it a go and sew a Florence Blouse for Christmas, be sure to share your creation on the Madeit Patterns Facebook page by the end of January and you`ll be in with a chance to win a pattern of your choice.

The inside is fully lined with a warm wool batting and a nice cotton lining. It`s blue and white striped. Sadly, I forgot to take a picture of it.

This tour is a competition. If you like my version and if you would like to see what all the others made, you can head over to Needle and Ted where you can comment on the different Florence’s and help to select a winner.

Ps: The awesome earflap cap is also self made. I`m going to share my free pattern in the next few days. So stay tuned!
