Hanami Dress

ImageToday I wanna share a special dress with you. The pattern is made by Straight Grain. You can purchase your copies here. You should definitely check out her  blog, and of curse her shop. Love the stuff she`s doing. So I had to try my hand on one of her patterns. All of them are cute but I wanted to sew a Hanami. The Hanami top and dress is a versatile sewing pattern. You can choose between different collar, sleeve and back options. And that`s what I did. I made a color blocking version, because I wanted a Peter Pan collar and a crossed back. This to options you can`t mix. So I decided to go for the crossed back, and instead of the collar, I just inserted one in the color blocking as you can see in the pictureImage

In place of sleeves, I attached  self-made piping, same for the waistline. ImageAnd that’s how id looks in the back. Sweet, ins`t it? For an easy closure, I attached some vintage snaps I found in a secondhand shop. They look like a pearl button. In my eyes it`s a nice match with this awesome micheal miller fabric.

ImageI really enjoyed sewing this dress. The pattern comes with clear instructions and a lot of useful sewing tips for a nice and clean finish.

Little Lady

TanteEmma2It`s a little lady dress. The pattern is self drafted. The bodice is lined. The pleated skirt is made of a square, totally easy to do. You can add this kind of skirt to nearly every bodice. I just doubled the circumstance of the bodice, and pleated it in the front and in the back. The length depends on your taste, you just have to measure from the end of your bodice down to where you wanna have the hem. I sewed it up in some nice Tante Emma cotton fabric I got locally in a fabric store. I love the cute print. It was a quick sewing. There isn`t much to say about this dress. I wanna let the pictures speak for themself. I hope you enjoy.TanteEmma1TanteEmma3
Love it when my girl is wearing mamamade cloths. There is a lot of love and time I put in sewing it up for her. It`s like, I wrap her in love, so the world around her is a little more cozy and warm. You know what I mean? If you`re sewing for your little ones, how do you feel about dressing them in your handmade stuff?

The Moustache Party Dress

Mustach3The Caroline Party Dress by the Mouse House creations is a very nice PDF Pattern. You can grab your copie here.

I upcycled an old scarf i bought once because i liked the print. And for me it was the perfect match with this sweet little princess dress. So it`s still sweet, but a little bit less girly. I fully lined the dress. And even added pockets. I know, kind of silly. My little bean is too small to use it. But i liked the option and it’s really cute to have them.

The Pattern comes with many options. I sewed a size 12M for my 8 moth old girl. She is tall for her age. And it fits her perfectly. You get very clear instructions. They take you by the hand and guide you trough the sewing process. So you can`t get lost.  I love the cap sleeves they so easy sewing. For the back closure i went for a visible zipper. It`s one with lace in a contrasting colour. I like the result. This kind of zipper is easy to insert. You just sew it on top. That`s  it. Nice isn`t it?

A nice dress she wore last time to meet her great-grandfather. Perfect when she has to look sweet and well dressed. But still it`s kind of cool. Know what i mean?

Pleated Romper

Bild

The pattern for this sweet little romper is self draftet, from a basic bodice i made for my little one. The pleating is improvisational. I`ve been inspired by this tutorial. In fact, i had no other option than pleating. Since i made this romper from a shirt i bought at the streetmarket in italy last month. There was just nomore fabric left. So you have to go with what you have, right? It was a happy coincidence, the pleating adds a special touch to the bodice. I`m normally not the ruffle typ. But in this case, i like it. I`m pleased whit the result. My sweet little beanburger is quite tall for her 8 months. I had to add some lenght. And because there was no fabric left. I had to attach a solid blue strip to the bodice.

For easy diapper changing, i installed some snaps. The Romper is fully lined whit a nice blue cotton, because the fabric was very lightwight and slightly see-through.

In the back a went for snaps too. So it`s easy to get it on and off. My baby doesn`t really like to shift cloths. It has to go fast. I`m sure this little romper will get widely used this sommer.
