Mint Bonbon

Spring is in the air. After three warm and sunny days, it feels like he finally arrives. My girl wore her winter-coat everyday the whole cold season, it was time, to sew a new one for the cheery days to come. I had a little ball-shaped jacket in mind. I thought about drafting myself, but then I stumbled over this older Burda Pattern (Burdastyle 09/2012), that was just what I imagined. The smallest size they provide for this coat was 98, my girl has a size 80. I downsized the whole pattern to her measurements. A lot of work, but so worth it! It fits like a charm.

The fabric is a lightweight wool mix I found locally. Perfect for a spring jacket. Lining fabric is from Micheal Miller

Sewing a coat is always a more time-consuming project for me. But it reminds me why I love to sew. In the end i`m there with a very unique piece, that is just perfect for her.

Made with love.

I searched like forever for the perfect buttons. I just couldn`t find one in the right shade of mint. In the end I had to cover them by my own. I should have done so from the beginning.

She seems to like her new jacket. She already started to hide all kind of funny stuff inside the pockets. How fast little kids grow!

  1. Love the silhouette, are the pockets faux leather? I must not buy any more patterns, I have loads that I haven’t even used yet. No more patterns, no more patterns, NO MORE PATTERNS. Have you a link for this pattern? 😉

  2. Mein kleines Mutzelchen trägt ein wunderschönes Ballonjäckchen. Einfach nur süss! Mein kleines Mutzelchen ist süss!

  3. Gorgeous ! and great choice for the lining, these foxes are very sweet. already thinking of a coat for the fall and yours is so inspiring.
