Mint Bonbon

Spring is in the air. After three warm and sunny days, it feels like he finally arrives. My girl wore her winter-coat everyday the whole cold season, it was time, to sew a new one for the cheery days to come. I had a little ball-shaped jacket in mind. I thought about drafting myself, but then I stumbled over this older Burda Pattern (Burdastyle 09/2012), that was just what I imagined. The smallest size they provide for this coat was 98, my girl has a size 80. I downsized the whole pattern to her measurements. A lot of work, but so worth it! It fits like a charm.

The fabric is a lightweight wool mix I found locally. Perfect for a spring jacket. Lining fabric is from Micheal Miller

Sewing a coat is always a more time-consuming project for me. But it reminds me why I love to sew. In the end i`m there with a very unique piece, that is just perfect for her.

Made with love.

I searched like forever for the perfect buttons. I just couldn`t find one in the right shade of mint. In the end I had to cover them by my own. I should have done so from the beginning.

She seems to like her new jacket. She already started to hide all kind of funny stuff inside the pockets. How fast little kids grow!

Sun and a lot of beautiful new fabric in my stash make me feel like sewing for myself. It`s a sewing storm going on those days. My head is full of ideas and inspiration, days would need more hours.

I`m blown away by this fabric. It`s such a nice quality. I found it at Petite Couture. Wendy has an amazing selection of fabrics in her shop. Sadly, the fabric I used is out of stock. She can`t reorder, it`s a pity.

Pattern is out of the Burda Style 09/2012 no. 134. It`s a design by the british fashion designer Matthew Williamson.

Smallest size is 36, I had to take in quite a bit to make it fit well. That`s why the side-parts do not line up exactly by the side seam. Too bad, but I can cope with it. I prefer a nice fit.

The fabric hides the back walking slit perfectly. But there is one, a nice and handy detail on a pencil skirt.

Side parts are the reverse of this gorgeous fabric. It provides a nice body shaping. Pockets make it comfy and casual. A new favorite!
