Charles dress – Compagnie M contest

Marte_Latzrock__004

In honor of Compagnie M, who`s celebrating 2nd Birthday with a big contest, this month. I visited my poor sewing machine who had to spend so many evenings on her own lately. I just loved to sew this little number! Sewing with jeans is just great. I nearly forgot how much I love top-stiching. Or placing buttons by hammer (the only way adding buttons is fun).

Marte_Latzrock__007

Marte_Latzrock__006

With Marte`s tutorial for the Charles dress, this is really an easy pattern hack! I sewed a size 18 months based on her measurements and it`s a perfect fit.

Marte_Latzrock__001

Marte_Latzrock__002

You could make it more an A line, but I like the straight cut of the skirt. It makes it stylish without being to cute.

Marte_Latzrock__003

The cuteness factor is added by the little girl wearing it anyway. Look at this smile she gave me in return to a Smarties. Modeling is work and has to be paid, isn`t it?

That`s my entry to the contest, check out all the other gorgeous creations made with Compagnie M Patterns!

Madeit Fashion Week – Fold2

Fashion Week poster4

It`s Madeit Fashion Week! I couldn`t be more excited about Anna and Olu`s new Patterncollection! It`s just stunning! Those two ladies made kids fashion in a very pure and beautiful way. Clever patterns with clear lines. There is no pink there is no candy, it`s made for real kids. They offer a few pattern for boys, but they`re actually suitable for girls as well.

I picked two patterns out of the Fold2 collection and sewed tree garments. It was a lot of fun and i`m sure, there will be more Madeit sewing in the next weeks. The instructions are clear and you can see that the graphic is made by a pro! It`s easy and straight forward to work with. And Olu`s humor is shinning through from time to time, what made me smile while sewing.

madeit_fashionweek__001

The skirt is self-drafted, it`s a simple rectangle gathered with an elastic. Fabric found at a market in Italy it`s golden linen. Pretty fancy!

madeit_fashionweek__002

Fabric of the top, bodice-side bought at Anna Ka Bazaar in Paris. Bodice-front is from Cotton and Steel bought at Petite Couture.

I can remember sitting in the metro in Paris, while the Paris sew social weekend, back in April. When Olu showed a preview of the Petal Fold Playsuit. I was blown away and since this day, I was waiting for this pattern! As playsuits with back opening isn`t something very practical for a two-year old diaper carrier, I was delighted to find out that there is a supplement with the separates. And because I loved the look of the playsuit I made her a dress inspired by it.

madeit_fashionweek__013

Fabrics are from Atelier Brunette and Michael Miller bought at Petite Couture. (I totally forgot where the skirt fabric is from)

The balloon fold dress, which can be worn 3 ways, was my second choice. I just had to try it. It seemed to be genius! And I can tell you it really is. Such a great fit and such a fun and comfy dress. My little bean wore it the whole day after I tried it on. And that`s something really special at the moment! She take it up and down just as she feels like.

madeit_fashionweek__007

Fabric is from a local store. It`s a very lightweight t-shirt knit.

It was a little extra challenge to incorporate some Origami into our blog posts. So what do you think about my big dinosaur? By the way all the honor goes to my `husband` who took his time, yesterday evening folding it, while I was working. I love you!

Ileana Dress by Compagnie M

Ileana__001

Marte of Compagnie M just released her newest Pattern. The Ileana dress (read more here). It`s a truly unique pattern with so many options. You can go crazy to team the bodice with all those different sleeves, collars, pockets and skirt options. Your Ileana is going to look differently each time your going to sew it, without losing the twist Compagnie M patterns call her own. Let`s celebrate with a little dance.

Ileana__002

I`ve choosen the Raglan bodice with the short Raglan sleeve. The short faux button placket with a round peter pan collar. And of course, the full circle skirt.

It would be also possible to choose pattern pieces of the other compagnie m patterns, they match with the Ileanadress as well. What gives you even more creative space.

Ileana__003

Ileana__004

The bodice is nicely finished with a lining. The skirt is hemmed with a bias-binding sewn to the inside. Such a nice touch on a swinging circle skirt (and very quick btw)!

Ileana__006

The collar as well as the sleeves are bordered with self-made piping I had to cut from an old bedsheet. Funnily, there was no white fabric in my whole stash.

Fabric is from Atelier Brunette bought here.

Ileana__008

You can purchase the pattern in the Compagnie-m shop, use code ILEANA10 to get a 10% discount on the pdf or the paper version.

Congratulations Marte, this dress rocks!

Paris Sew Social Blogtour and Giveaway

Louisa_002 Sewing was always something, I did alone in my sewing room. Spending time just for myself, surrounded by beautiful and inspiring stuff, doing something that`s exciting and relaxing at the same time. I do not speak about my hobby that much. Even closer friends do maybe know that I like to sew, but do not notice the handmade clothes and I`ve probably never mentioned my blog. With the Paris sew social meeting back in April this habit changed. I found like-minded people who share my passion. And i actually love to talk about fabric, patterns, clothes, scissors, sewing machines and big dreams. Louisa_001 I sometimes writes e-mails in the middle of the night, just to say hello to someone living miles away. Knowing the one will be still awake as well. Friends that I found through my blog. That`s amazing! Louisa_2__007

Today I`ll share two Louisa dresses by Compagnie M, I received the pattern as a sponsoring for Paris sew social. Marte, who`s the designer of this beautiful little A-line dress named Louisa (you surely all know it by heart), even hosted my family for a few days at her home. We got friends during the weekend in Paris. I never thought of things like that could happen, when I started this little blog. We had the best time!

Louisa_2__003

The one with the red dots, is made from a Nani Iro, I`ve choosen at Atelier Brunette in Paris. This fabric was kindly sponsored by Bernina. The only change I made to the pattern was adding  tulip sleeves instead of the regular ones.

Louisa_004Louisa_005

Louisa_006

The second one is made with a little piece of fabric I had in my stash for a long time (bought at Miss Matatabi). I was inspired by this Louisa from Marte. I added the cap-sleeves of the Lotta dress.

Louisa_2__001

Louisa_2__005Louisa_2__008

Today we`ll give a big thank you to all our sponsors, everybody sewed something with a Pattern or a fabric received in Paris. Check out all the other creations. There is a giveaway on every single blog!

So if you would like to be the lucky winner, of a free copy of the Louisa dress, just leave a nice comment on my blog (tell me if you like to win) and visit Compagnie M to give Marte some love.
Giveaway winner will be announced 10/07/2015

    B_sFavorit__009

Today you`ll get to know the man in my life. He`s everything I ever wished for, my best friend, my love.

    B_sFavorit__008

He`s funny and caring. He`s always there, trying to make me happy. It means the world to me to have him on my side!

    B_sFavorit__006B_sFavorit__005

We first met when I was 18 years old. Since then I can`t remember a lot of days we did`t see each other. Three years ago we travelled together for a whole year, we never did something separately. He is the one and only person on this earth I could share so much time, somewhere your travelling buddy is the only one speaking your language. I still miss him like crazy when is away for just a few days. Life is short, you can`t share too much time!

    B_sFavorit__003B_sFavorit__004

He`s the secret behind the beautiful pictures on my blog. He`s a professional photographer and he does most of the photo-shootings for me. If I shoot the pictures, he`s the one who`ll edit them! Thank you so much for putting my work in such an inspiring light!

    Ishi Blogtour

    Ishi_2_003

I was a happy one who had the honor to test the new Pattern by Straight-grain. The Ishi is a simple A-line dress, with princess seams and big pockets. Easy to sew, comfy to wear and endless options to explore. This is going to be a favorite staple dress.

    Ishi_2_004

    Ishi_2_002

This is a size 18 Months, it fits her perfectly.

I also sewed a size 2 Y for her, there is a bit more room to grow. Do you see what I mean? It was my fault. She`s just between the two sizes, i don`t now what i had in mind while choosing the size. Doesn`t matter. I`ll sew a few more Ishis for sure.

    Ishitest_005

The pattern comes with beautiful and easy to follow graphics. If you`re a beginning seamstress don`t worry with the tips and tricks An provides, you`ll be able to sew this dress! If you`re a more experienced sewer, you`ll stich it up in like no time.

    Ishi_2_007

Pockets, yes big pockets. You can imagine what you`ll find in them every evening. The treasures of the day, always a nice surprise!

    Ishi_2_006

    Ishi_2_001

A few chances were made to the pattern. I added a rolled-up effect to the short sleeves and I sewed in a visible zipper instead of an invisible (they always bite the dust so fast).

    Ishi_2_005

Fabrics: Side Panel: Naniiro (Mondaysmilk), Front Panel: Soft cactus (locally) Pockets: Silver linen (locally)

The pattern is sold in the Straight-grain shop for $10, use the code LAUNCH15 for a 15% off (expires May 22).

    Golden Rain

    Troepfli_004

It`s already a few weeks ago, since I sewed this little dress. A fast project, that I squeezed in between a few larger ones in my sewing queue. Just because I stumbled over this beautiful fabric, I bought once locally. I love the colors. That happens to me sometimes.

    Troepfli_003

The dress is self-drafted and it`s not perfect. I just gave it a go.

    Troepfli_005

Some pleats, some piping and an asymmetrical shape. She looks quite cute in it.

    Troepfli_006

    A fast closure.

    Troepfli_001

And of course pockets. Yes, that`s something she just discovered. For me it`s amazing to see what treasures she found to be important enough to carry. Always a surprise. That`s it, a perfect little in-between dress.

    Mint Bonbon

    Mantel_Frühling_001

Spring is in the air. After three warm and sunny days, it feels like he finally arrives. My girl wore her winter-coat everyday the whole cold season, it was time, to sew a new one for the cheery days to come. I had a little ball-shaped jacket in mind. I thought about drafting myself, but then I stumbled over this older Burda Pattern (Burdastyle 09/2012), that was just what I imagined. The smallest size they provide for this coat was 98, my girl has a size 80. I downsized the whole pattern to her measurements. A lot of work, but so worth it! It fits like a charm.

    Mantel_Frühling_003

    Mantel_Frühling_002

The fabric is a lightweight wool mix I found locally. Perfect for a spring jacket. Lining fabric is from Micheal Miller

    Mantel_Frühling_007

Sewing a coat is always a more time-consuming project for me. But it reminds me why I love to sew. In the end i`m there with a very unique piece, that is just perfect for her.

    Made with love.

    Mantel_Frühling_005

I searched like forever for the perfect buttons. I just couldn`t find one in the right shade of mint. In the end I had to cover them by my own. I should have done so from the beginning.

    Mantel_Frühling_008

She seems to like her new jacket. She already started to hide all kind of funny stuff inside the pockets. How fast little kids grow!

    Mantel_Frühling_004

    She`s the One

    Nella_002

She`s the one, who fits into my pants. May I introduce, that`s my mom. She`s wearing a pair of Hudson Pants sewn by me. Well, actually I made them for myself. I used a woven fabric. I up-sized one size as I did in my first version, sewed them together without any bad thoughts.. and when I finished and tried them on… they were too small. I don`t know what went wrong, maybe it was the fever that I suffered from while sewing. Happily, I made them exactly in mom`s size.

    Nella_005

They suit her very well, if you ask me. I made a cropped version. I heard showing the ankles is fashionable at the moment. No, it`s just a nice length, for a lightweight summer trousers, like this one. Don`t you think?

    Nella_003

By the way, my mom is a very passionate knitter. She always makes very gorgeous stuff. I`m so impressed by her patience.

The sweetest little cat-hat is made by her, see a better pic on my Instagram.

My little girl loves her Nonna to the moon and back! Thank you Mom for all your Support!

    Just Add Detail

    JUST ADD DETAIL graphic2(1)

What are you going to do with a basic oversized boxy top pattern? You just add detail and make it your very own. That`s the little funny challenge Olu of Needle and Ted set us. All those bloggers are going to interpret the Ziggy Top in their own creative way. I can`t wait to see what everyone did!

My girl doesn`t have that many trousers and because of that, nearly never wears t-shirts. I found a solution.

    Ziggy_Dress_006

Let my introduce you to….. the Ziggy Dress.

    Ziggy_Dress_004

I extended the hem to dress length and attached a draw-cord to give it a bit of shape around the waist. She felt in love with it from the first moment. It must be really cozy.

    Ziggy_Dress_001

This jersey, i bought locally, is nice and soft but doesn`t have a lot of stretch. I attached a button placket in the shoulder seam, in order that her head is going to fit trough the neckhole. Painless slip on and off really makes all the difference, if she`ll like or hate a piece of clothing.

    Ziggy_Dress_002

I`ll need a dress like this for myself! Such a lazy style, seems perfect for Sundays. You`ll look well-dressed while wearing kind of jogging suit.

    Ziggy_Dress_005

That`s it, a new comfy dress for my little bean and I can`t wait for the new Madeit Collection coming soon.

    Ziggy_Dress_008

Psst… Madeit Patterns will be offering 20% off Ziggy from  23rd March – 29th March.

    20% off Ziggy

I`m off to check out the other Ziggy`s sewn by those talented bloggers.
